  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup whole milk (warm)
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast by warming milk to about 110°F. Stir in sugar and sprinkle yeast on top; let sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, eggs, and remaining milk.
  3. Mix until a dough forms and knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Gradually incorporate softened butter while kneading until fully mixed.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
  6. Shape or braid the dough as desired, then allow it to rise again until puffed (30-45 minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
