  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz (225g) fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by chopping the onion and slicing the mushrooms.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into four patties about one inch thick.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown each patty for about five minutes on each side.
  5. Remove patties from the skillet; add sliced mushrooms and sauté until softened. Sprinkle flour over them.
  6. Gradually stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; let simmer until thickened.
  7. Return patties to the skillet to coat them in gravy; cook until heated through.
  8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides.
