Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Spread softened butter over the surface.
  6. Mix together sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough. Roll tightly from one end to form logs and slice into thick rounds.
  7. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish; pour heavy cream over the rolls.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) while letting the rolls rise for another half hour.
  9. Bake for approximately 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
