  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with cinnamon and 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
  3. In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and sauté until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and nuts (if using). Stir in the remaining melted butter until crumbly.
  5. Pour sautéed apples into an ovenproof skillet; top evenly with crumble mixture.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream.
