  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15 minutes). Drain and mash.
  2. In a skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Sauté onion until translucent, then add cabbage and garlic; cook for 8 minutes until soft.
  3. Combine mashed potatoes with sautéed mixture, chives, flour, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  4. Form into patties (about half an inch thick) and lightly coat with flour.
  5. In the skillet, heat remaining butter over medium heat. Cook patties in batches for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with sour cream or applesauce.
